We are in Pest, the flattest part of the city, in a protected environment very close to the Parliament. Thus, this is a building whose façade is protected, despite the fact that its real historical interest is scarce. This implies that all the current openings in the façade will limit us and condition the interior distribution.

For this reason, a total restoration of the façade is proposed, eliminating all the negative impacts that the building has acquired over time, as well as the reparation of existing carpentry that are in good condition and replacement of those that cannot be recovered. On the ground floor, the current accesses to the building are maintained, the main one being that of Calle Luna, while the others will be: a direct access to the restaurant from the street, an access to the parking and emergency exits.

The zoning regulations allowed the roof space to be used as a habitable area. Taking into account the slopes of the roofs in Budapest, this allowed us to replace the existing roof with another, gaining two more floors for the building, which are set back, so that the volume of the building wouldn’t be altered. Open balconies were, also, added to certain parts of the roof acting as terraces for the rooms.

The main access to the building remains as the hotel’s main entrance, emphasizing the axis it forms with the courtyard, developing the entire lobby program around it. A large hanging marquee is added, thus restoring the entrance to its original state, which had been lost over time.
