EL CLUB ALPINO ESPAÑOL, name that dominates the façade of the current building, was nestled in Madrid’s Sierra for many years, providing shelter to mountaineers who went there to enjoy their favorite sport. Currently it is a construction that has been abandoned to the passage of time and deterioration. Almost a ruin in a unique location in the mountains of Madrid, in the mountain pass of Cotos, in a natural park.

The main purpose of the project is to return the building to its previous use as a hostel, with an architecture that is very respectful of the original protected construction, eliminating all the dissonant elements and the rehabilitation of all the roofs that are presently in ruins. In this enclave, sustainability is essential: the water supply is limited – it comes from a water reservoir up in the mountain which is filtered and purified for it to be potable, a geothermal system is installed to produce SHW and the radiant floor heating, carpentry and energy efficient glass for energy efficiency, etc.
