We received the commission to add an architectural layer on a plastic recycling plant, PET plastic for food contact, which had been developed by an engineering company. The volumetry of the plant was highly conditioned by the functional needs of the machinery and the flows of the industrial process, that’s why we proposed working on three fronts: building enclosure, office building and landscaping.

FAÇADE
The building enclosure of the warehouse would be made with prefab concrete panels. Since the budget was very limited, we chose to limit our intervention to standardizing heights, giving geometric and material continuity to the different spaces of the building and to making a single but powerful graphic display by painting the entire facade in the corporate color of the company yet allowing the exposed concrete base to form the company logo.

LANDSCAPING
The industrial park in which the warehouse is located is quite arid. With the help of Costales Pallares we proposed very sustainable landscaping based on recycled pavements with different degrees of hardness and the plantation of native plants. As in the case of the Facade, the scale of the project required a strong visual display that would be recognizable more from an aerial point of view than from a pedestrian viewpoint. A system of strips vegetation and pavements was proposed, as well as the use of ‘pavicesped’ in the light vehicle parking lots.

OFFICE BUILDING
This is the only place where we could intervene in a more radical way, therefore, a very clear volumetry was proposed, in keeping with the forceful boxes of the rest of the floor. A double-height entrance was projected to convey a more powerful institutional image and in this area the landscaping theme enters inside the offices with the concept of the bands.
The offices are very open and use corporate colors mixed with recycled laminated wood.

COLOR PALETTE
Industrial equipments have a limited range of colors, therefore we chose to use gray and galvanized finishes as a base, which are the color ranges that all manufacturers have in their catalog. Repetco’s corporate blue was used as an accent color on the load-bearing structures of the machinery. The other accent color was a yellow that provided a color punch to specific elements.
